ITALIAN GOLDSMITH’S ART, A GREAT WORLDWIDE RECOGNIZED ITALIAN ACHIEVEMENT
Italian goldsmith’s art represents one of the Made in Italy excellences for which we are reknowned all over the world. Competence and professionalism, combined with creativity and continuous innovations have always characterized this field throughout the centuries, becoming one of the pillars of our country.
The goldsmith’s craft history has its roots in the Renaissance age when in Florence precious metals were worked with new cutting edge techniques never used before. These techniques were improved thanks to the request and solicitation of jewels more and more precious and complex.
The real value of Italian goldsmith art was discovered in the early decades of the 1900s, when people understood not only the value of the product’s craftsmanship, but also the artistic side of the Creations. The goldsmith, therefore, turns into artist and the jewel becomes his artwork.
Italian jewellery has then become a wearable art, synthesizing the love for beauty with an artisan knowledge: this is what it’s distinguished for from the rest of the world.
The main difference between an handmade jewel and an industrial one is set by manufacturing techniques that determine its quality and uniqueness. These techniques respect perfectly the goldsmith’s rules but are able to evolve integrating cutting edge technologies and create new shapes and volumes previously considered unreachable.
In this short video we want to show you a small part of this complex work: from the diamond cutting of the edge of the jewel, then its welding until the final engraving customizing the precious item according to the customer’s request.
